MY THOUGHTS & REVIEW:
Kresely Cole's Immortals After Dark series is one of my favorites paranormal romance series, hands down.  The IAD world consists of an array of sinister (but lovable!) immortal lore creatures including Valkyries, vampires, witches, demons, fae, ghouls, phantoms, lykae, and berserkers. They are steaming hot, hilarious, dark, clever, and more.  Each book stars a different couple, but luckily we see many of the great characters throughout the series. 

The time-line for Dreams of a Dark Warrior parallels with Demon from the Dark, and takes us back to that remote island prison in the Pacific.  (In truth, these stories are going on at the same time - so be sure to have read Demon from the Dark first.)  Valkyrie Regin the Radiant is being held prisoner by warden Declan Chase, a deeply troubled sexy mortal who believes all immortal creatures are evil and should be destroyed.  He is a top member of The Order, an organization led by Webb who will stop at nothing to capture and learn about the immortals through vivisection (think of it as an autopsy on the living) and other torturous means.

However, Declan Chase is actually Regin's reincarnated lover Aiden, a mortal Viking berserker killed one thousand years ago before they could marry.  Over the years, Aiden kept coming back in different forms via reincarnation - only to die again once Regin had found him and restored Aiden's memories with a kiss. So when Regin recognized Chase as her former lover Aiden, she is mortified by his torturous ways and intends to use the kiss of doom against him to help win her freedom. 

Declan doesn't understand why he is so drawn to Regin, a filthy immortal!  But he also doesn't realize he is actually Aiden. Throughout the book Regin and Declan fight their attraction and disgust with each other, which at times made for some great laughs and some good steam!  And then when the chaos rains, Regin, Declan and a clan of immortals fight it out for freedom and revenge.

This book was a lot of fun to read. As we have come to expect from this series, it is filled with great action, hot sex scenes, and a mix of regular and new characters. We meet new comers Natalya, a fey, a half-ling high school kid name Thad, and Aiden's best friend Brandr, who won his immortality from the Gods a millennium ago. Nix returns, and as always was on her game! Love her! And we get to know more about vampire Lothaire, who just cracked me up every time he spoke. I am so happy his book is next!!

However, there were few aspects that I had issue with which is why I only gave it a B grade. For instance, Declan was a great hero but it took a long time to warm up to him since he was so dark and tortured through much of the book.  But when he finally came around and recognized Regin as his woman, I forgave all his crimes against Regin and fell for the guy.  But I will say, I felt many of his crimes against the lore were simply irredeemable.

The ending was also a bit too pat for me, with too much redemption for Chase. Chase made a lot of enemies from the Lore,and many of his actions were unforgivable in my eyes. It will be interesting to see how the Lore interacts with him in future books.

Overall, this book was tough to put down!  It is a bit darker than previous, including some gruesome torture scenes and possibly the coldest and meanest hero in the series yet.   I loved how we got to meet Aiden in several of his reincarnated forms, and Regin was so witty and funny with her cutting dialogue she helped lighten the story and balance it out for a great read. (I think Regin is now my favorite heroine in this series.)  And while I didn't warm up to Declan Chase as the book's hero until near the end, I think Regin and him ended up as a great couple.

MY THOUGHTS & REVIEW:
I first must say I am normally not a big reader of erotica, but my online reading friends were going crazy about this one so I borrowed a copy. I read this last year when it came out, and I was impressed. 

Backstage Pass is a scorching hot erotica with a pretty good story too. I'll admit I skimmed over some of the sex scenes as not everything in this book is my 'thing', but overall this was a great romantic/erotica read with two wonderful lead characters that made me laugh so many times.

Brian really fit the mold of a rocker. He was more of a lover than a fighter kind of guy, and his charm and devotion to Myrna was hot. Although sometimes he was bit too 'beta' for my tastes (did he really say 'pwease'?) he did fit perfectly in the context of this story. Myrna is a closet rocker chick who dresses in prim suits, she has a PhD in sexual psychology, and is even a few years older than Brian. When he meets her its instant attraction, and he quickly realizes she is quite possibly his muse.

In my limited experience, it's a rare for an erotica book to have both a great story and sizzling hot sex scenes that don't feel cheesy or repetitive, but Olivia Cunning really pulled it off.

It will be Izzy and Eden's story, plus the conclusion of Dan Gilman and Jenn's romance we saw heat up in Hot Pursuit, and it will wrap up many lose ends from past characters too.  If you haven't read Hot Pursuit yet, you can now get it on the Kindle for just $6.29.   Troubleshooters has been a great series so I am sorry to see it go into hiatus, but I wish Suzanne Brockmann all the best on her new series.  I am eagerly waiting to see what she writes next.

MY THOUGHTS & REVIEW:
Overall, a great reunion book staring many fan favorites. You get a romantic suspense story that includes a blossoming new romance featuring Dan Gilman, plus a super-sized eeeeeeeeevil villian that hides in plain sight, and the brilliant sleuthing and lots of tender moments between past favorites Sam and Alyssa, and Jules and Robin.

Since this is a reunion book, who will you see again? This book reunites fans with Sam, Alyssa, and their 10-month old son Ash. Plus we see more of Jules and Robin, yeah!  Then there is my favorite Izzy, plus Danny Gillman, Jose 'Jay' Lopez, and Tony (the new gay SEALs team member.) You will get a brief update on other members too such as Nils (now leading a new SEALS team 12), Max, Gina and their two kids (Emma is now 2, plus there is a new baby boy), and Sophia who is now pregnant.

Savannah (from Out of Control, book 4) is the glue that brings everyone together in this book and sets this story into motion. We meet new comers and two of Savannah's friends, the ultra-beautiful Maria, a New York assembly woman, and Jenn, Maria's plain-Jane and a bit plump assistant. Plus there is a slew of secondary characters who all become suspects, leaving the readers to struggle with guessing which one of them is the evil dentist. The UPS guy? The cop? The intern? The brother? The homeless guy? The campaign donor? Since I guessed all of them during one time or another, I was just glad when he was finally revealed! I couldn't guess anymore.

While this will not go down as my favorite in the series, it was a really good read. Sam, Alyssa, Jules and Robin felt like old familiar friends, so it was great to have them back leading the suspense part of this story. The romance part of the story involved Danny G and Jenn. From previous books we know that Danny G is sister to Eden (and therefore Izzy's brother-in-law), and that he is not always a nice guy. Danny does become a likable standup kind of guy in this book, but Brockmann keeps him in full character so he does turn into a jerk in one big scene. However, without giving any spoilers he redeems himself the best we could possibly expect so I was more than happy with his storyline.  His romance story will continue in Breaking The Rules, and it should be a hot one!

A hilarious bawdy (and naughty!) romance parody short story

MY THOUGHTS & MINI REVIEW:
I read The Princess and The Penis at the recommendation of many of my online romance book friends, and I can see why they were so excited about it. At only 36-pages, it is a quick fun read that had me smiling and laughing the entire time.  The humor is bawdy but it is not graphic or too explicit.  It is one of the best parodies of a fairytale romance I've read in a long time.

A NASCAR romance to help kick off the 2011 racing season

Since NASCAR officially started its new season just a few days ago, I was looking for romance books staring a NASCAR driver and noticed this gem was for FREE. And while I haven't read it, I have enjoyed many other romance books by Nancy Warren. She writes touching stories with plenty of heart and enough heat to keep me happy.
